Matthew is a highly skilled and recognized litigator who has, for example, successfully defended companies in dozens of class actions filed under state and federal statutes. He has achieved impeccable results in these cases, obtaining several first-in-the-nation decisions and dismissals of numerous cases without any payment by clients. For his record, Matthew was recognized as “Up and Coming” by Chambers.

Matthew also routinely assists companies to ensure compliance with federal consumer-protection and privacy laws, including companies in the retail energy, telecommunications, payments, political outreach, and consumer goods verticals. He has significant experience with insurance coverage disputes, and regularly provides coverage advice to clients facing claims brought under consumer-protection and commercial statutes.

Matthew also has substantial experience litigating other complex commercial matters, such as contractual disputes and business torts, representing manufacturers, financial corporations, and other companies in both federal and state courts.

Prior to entering private practice, Matthew attended the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude, served as President of the Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board, became a member of the Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers, and received many awards for the highest grade in the class. He was a Dean’s Fellow and a member of the Federal Appellate Clinic, drafting appellate briefs for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Prior to law school, Matthew graduated magna cum laude from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in history.
