Alexander Terepka

Alex Terepka is a founding partner of the firm. He is an experienced business litigator who counsels clients on all aspects of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling through trial and appeals. Alex has briefed dispositive motions filed in state and federal courts, taken and defended numerous depositions, marshalled all aspects of written discovery, and worked extensively with experts. He also has extensive trial experience, including client victories in all trials he has first-chaired. Alex has substantial appellate experience, as well, including briefing, arguing, and winning multiple appeals in federal circuit courts around the country. He has briefed, argued, and won an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, for example. Herdocia–Jarquin v. Garland, 843 Fed. App’x 929 (9th Cir. Apr. 12, 2021). Oral argument available here.

Alex has substantial experience defending a variety of consumer class actions, including those involving TCPA and related state law claims, privacy law claims, and deceptive practices claims, among others. Some recent highlights include obtaining highly favorable individual settlements in multi-million-dollar putative nationwide consumer class actions, sometimes without any payment, including for Fortune 500 clients. Another recent highlight was obtaining an early dismissal in a California Invasion of Privacy Act putative class action for a Fortune 300 client. Moledina v. Marriott International, Inc., __ F. Supp. 3d ___, 2022 WL 16630276 (C.D. Cal. 2022) (granting motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction in first-in-nation order denying transfer on ground that evidence showed claim lacked merit). So was defeating certification for large healthcare provider in nine-figure putative TCPA class action. Conner v. Fox Rehab. Servs., 2022 WL 4080761 (E.D. Pa. Sept. 6, 2022).

Prior to founding WT, Alex worked at two elite, national law firms and clerked for two federal judges: Judge Richard Clifton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Chief Judge George King of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Alex attended law school at the University of Michigan, where he served on the Michigan Law Review editorial board as an Articles Editor, graduated magna cum laude, was inducted to the Order of the Coif, and received multiple awards for best performance in the class. Prior to law school, Alex attended Cornell University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa and completed double majors in chemistry and history.
